We are seeking an experienced Sushi Chef to join our dynamic culinary team. Duties
- Prepare and assemble a variety of sushi dishes with precision and artistry, adhering to traditional techniques and presentation standards
- Ensure all ingredients are fresh, properly stored, and used in accordance with food safety regulations
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the sushi station, including sanitising work surfaces and utensils regularly
- Assist in meal preparation for other Japanese dishes as required, supporting overall kitchen operations
- Collaborate with team members to ensure timely service during busy periods
- Monitor stock levels of ingredients and communicate needs for replenishment
- Uphold high standards of food safety, hygiene, and sanitation at all times
Experience
- Proven experience as a Sushi Chef or in a similar culinary role specialising in Japanese cuisine
- Extensive knowledge of food preparation techniques related to sushi, sashimi, and other Japanese dishes
- Strong understanding of food safety standards and best practices within a professional kitchen setting
- Previous experience working in a restaurant environment with fast-paced service demands
- Familiarity with serving protocols and customer interaction is advantageous but not essential
