Overview
We are seeking a professional and personable Night Porter/Receptionist to join our team. This role is essential in ensuring smooth overnight operations, providing excellent guest services, and maintaining a welcoming environment for all visitors. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, a friendly demeanour, and previous experience in hospitality or hotel reception but not essential. This position offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic environment where attention to detail and guest satisfaction are paramount.
Duties
- Welcome guests upon arrival and assist with check-in procedures during night hours
- Respond promptly and courteously to guest inquiries via phone or in person, demonstrating excellent phone etiquette
- Manage reservations, cancellations, and modifications efficiently using the hotel's booking system
- Handle guest requests and resolve issues promptly to ensure a positive experience
- Maintain security protocols by monitoring the premises during night shifts and conducting regular patrols
- Keep the reception area tidy, organised, and well-stocked with necessary materials
- Record and report any maintenance issues or safety concerns to the relevant departments
- Assist with administrative tasks such as data entry, logging incidents, and preparing reports as required
- Collaborate with other hotel departments to ensure seamless service delivery throughout the night
Skills
- Proven experience in hotel reception or guest services within the hospitality industry is preferred but not essential
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with a professional phone manner
- Strong organisational skills with an eye for detail to manage reservations and guest requests effectively
- Ability to remain calm under pressure during busy periods or emergency situations
- Knowledge of hospitality software systems is beneficial but not essential; training will be provided if necessary
- Friendly, approachable demeanour with a genuine desire to deliver outstanding guest service
- Flexibility to work overnight shifts on a scheduled basis, including weekends and public holidays if required
