University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust is delighted to offer a fantastic opportunity to work with us.
Please see below for a detailed job description of the role.
We are looking for a highly motivated, enthusiastic and conscientious Specialist Cardiac Physiologist to join our echocardiography team. This role will provide you with valuable opportunities to develop skills in transthoracic echocardiography. If not already BSE-accredited, once you have gained accreditation and further experience to embed your skills, it will be possible to develop further in areas such as contrast echocardiography and physiologist-led services. You will be a part of making a measurable difference to echocardiography delivery across the organisation and for our cardiology patients.
We are a friendly, vibrant and diverse BSE-accredited department, collectively performing around 40,000 echocardiograms each year on all ages. Our team are involved in a wide range of specialist services including congenital and paediatric echocardiography, TOE, stress echo, and physiologist-led clinics. We pride ourselves on actively supporting continual professional development through educational and mentoring sessions, regular MDT-style teaching meetings, and supporting external course attendance.
Our department operates Monday to Saturday. Full time staff work 4 days per week. You will be involved in Saturday and bank holiday working on a rotational basis. You will be required to work at some of our satellite clinics on occasion, such as at our Community Diagnostic Centre at the Royal South Hants Hospital.
The Trust may offer a recruitment and retention premium for this role. For more information please contact the recruitment team, or Alistair Harris.

We believe that using technology wisely shows strong time management and commitment to innovation. However, personalising your recruitment application to highlight your unique skills and experiences is crucial. Relying too heavily on generic, AI-generated content instead of drawing from your own strengths and accomplishments may lead to your application being rejected if multiple candidates present identical or similar information.
