We're looking for a Web Developer to join Matrix Create, the web development division of LOCALiQ. Working as part of a collaborative digital team, you'll design, build and support responsive websites for a diverse portfolio of clients across multiple sectors.
This is a hands-on development role focused on creating high-quality, user-friendly websites that balance design, performance, accessibility and commercial objectives. You'll work alongside designers, SEO specialists, Client Success teams and fellow developers, contributing throughout the project lifecycle from build and testing through to launch and ongoing support.
Whether you're refining front-end functionality, implementing content within CMS platforms or troubleshooting technical issues, you'll play a key role in delivering websites that help our clients grow their businesses online.

This is a hybrid role with an expectation of two days per week in our Newport, Isle of Wight office. As a result, we'd ideally like to hear from candidates based on the Island or within a reasonable commuting distance, including Southampton, Portsmouth, Bournemouth, and the surrounding areas.

Build and maintain responsive websites, templates, layouts and front-end components.
- Implement and manage website content within CMS platforms.
- Translate designs, wireframes and requirements into functional, responsive web pages.
- Test websites across browsers, devices and platforms to ensure quality and consistency.
- Identify and resolve usability, accessibility, performance and presentation issues.
- Support website launches, troubleshooting, incident resolution and ongoing maintenance.
- Work collaboratively with developers, designers, SEO specialists and Client Success teams.
- Follow development standards, best practices and agreed delivery processes.
- Contribute to documentation, knowledge sharing and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support the delivery of high-quality websites that meet client objectives and commercial goals.

Strong HTML, CSS and JavaScript skills with practical front-end development experience.
- Good understanding of responsive design principles and modern front-end development practices.
- Knowledge of website accessibility standards and browser compatibility requirements.
- Experience working with CMS platforms such as Craft CMS, WordPress, Shopify or similar.
- Ability to convert designs and wireframes into accurate, responsive web pages.
- Familiarity with version control systems, testing methodologies and troubleshooting techniques.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to identifying solutions.
- Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Comfortable working within a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment.
- Experience with Craft CMS, WordPress or Shopify theme development.
- Knowledge of Twig, PHP or similar templating languages.
- Understanding of technical SEO, Core Web Vitals and website performance optimisation.
- Experience using Figma or similar design collaboration tools.
- Knowledge of AI-assisted development tools and workflows.
- Experience working on websites for small and medium-sized businesses.
- Understanding of website hosting, cloud services (AWS or similar) and web security best practices.
- Awareness of analytics, user behaviour and conversion optimisation principles.
