Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Sous Chef to join our existing brigade. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership qualities, extensive kitchen experience, and a passion for delivering exceptional food and service. From lunches to banquets, buffets to dinner service, we are a all year round business.
This role offers an exciting opportunity to oversee food preparation, manage kitchen operations, and support the head chef and owner in maintaining high standards of quality and safety within a busy hospitality environment.
Responsibilities
- Assist the head chef in supervising daily kitchen operations, ensuring smooth workflow and adherence to organisational standards
- Oversee food production, ensuring dishes are prepared to the highest quality and presentation standards
- Manage and coordinate food preparation activities, including cooking, plating, and garnishing
- Supervise kitchen staff, providing guidance, training, and support to optimise team performance
- Maintain strict compliance with food safety regulations and hygiene standards at all times
- Monitor stock levels, assist with stock ordering, and ensure proper storage of ingredients
- Support the development of new menu items in collaboration with the head chef
- Ensure efficient utilisation of resources to minimise waste and maximise productivity
- Serve as a role model for professionalism and hospitality within the team
Skills
- Proven supervising experience within a high volume busy kitchen or restaurant environment
- Quality kitchen experience with strong skills in food preparation and cooking techniques
- Demonstrated team management abilities with leadership qualities that motivate staff
- Knowledge of food safety standards and best practices in hygiene management
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to multitask effectively under pressure
- Strong understanding of food production processes and restaurant operations
- Experience in hospitality or serving environments is advantageous but not essential
- Ability to work flexibly across shifts, including evenings and weekends as required
