About the Role
This unique and varied role combines two key elements:
1. Supported Employment
You will work alongside one of our local employer partners, providing tailored, person-centred support to an adult with SEND who is on placement or who has secured paid employment.
Your role will be to help the individual settle into the workplace, build confidence, develop independence and succeed in their role, while working collaboratively with the employer to ensure the placement continues to flourish.
This may include:
- Providing on-the-job coaching and encouragement.
- Breaking tasks into manageable steps where required.
- Developing confidence and workplace independence.
- Liaising positively with employers and colleagues.
- Helping overcome barriers to sustained employment.
- Promoting inclusion within the workplace.
- Gradually reducing support as confidence and independence increase.
2. Personal and Professional Development Teaching
Alongside the employment coaching role, you will deliver engaging sessions to a small group of adults with SEND attending our Legacy Project Plus programme.
Working within a relaxed classroom environment, you'll teach practical, enjoyable and meaningful sessions covering topics such as:
- Confidence and self-esteem
- Communication skills
- Enterprise
- Employability skills
- Independent living
- Budgeting and money management
- Health and wellbeing
- Teamwork
- Problem-solving
- Goal setting
- Personal resilience
- Community participation
Sessions are designed to be interactive, practical and person-centred, helping learners prepare for greater independence, volunteering, further learning or employment and most recently, supporting those who would like to set up their own business.
Main Responsibilities
You will:
- Deliver engaging personal development sessions to small groups of adults with SEND.
- Adapt learning activities to meet individual learning styles and abilities.
- Support an adult with SEND in paid employment through structured workplace coaching.
- Build positive relationships with employers and employment partners.
- Encourage independence while providing appropriate levels of support.
- Help learners identify their strengths, interests and aspirations.
- Monitor progress and celebrate achievements.
- Maintain accurate records where required.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues, families and professionals.
- Promote safeguarding, inclusion and equality in everything you do.
- Contribute to the continued development of the Legacy Project Plus programme.

Essential Requirements
- Experience working within education, learner support, SEND, supported employment or a related field.
- Experience planning or delivering learning, coaching or support activities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of vulnerable adults.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a small, supportive team.
Desirable
- Teaching qualification or relevant teaching experience.
- Experience supporting adults or young people with SEND.
- Experience of supported employment or workplace coaching.
- Enhanced DBS - will be provided if not up to date.
- Current safeguarding training.
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (preferred but not essential).
Training and support will be provided, including safeguarding training where required.
Pay: £17.00 per hour
