We are looking for a Production Operative to join our team in Haverfordwest. This is an excellent opportunity for a practical and proactive individual to work across our mill, yard and wider production operation, supporting the team to ensure materials are processed, handled and moved safely and efficiently.
This is a varied, hands-on role where you will be expected to work across different areas of the site. Working closely with the wider production and operations team, you will play an important part in keeping the mill and yard running smoothly while maintaining high standards of safety, quality and housekeeping.
What You'll Do:
- Work across the mill, yard and production areas as required to support the day-to-day operation.
- Operate production machinery and equipment following appropriate training.
- Load, unload, move and prepare timber and other materials safely and efficiently.
- Operate forklift trucks to move materials around the yard and production areas.
- Use a side-loader forklift to handle and move longer materials safely and efficiently.
- Assist with feeding materials through the mill and supporting the production process.
- Sort, stack and organise finished products and raw materials.
- Assist with loading and unloading customer and supplier vehicles.
- Carry out basic checks on machinery and equipment and report any faults or maintenance requirements.
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping across the mill, yard and working areas.
- Ensure materials are stored safely and correctly.
- Follow all company procedures, safe systems of work and Group Health & Safety standards.
- Wear the required PPE and maintain a safe working environment at all times.
- Support colleagues across the production and yard teams as required.
- Assist with general site duties and contribute to the smooth and efficient running of the operation.
- Identify and report any issues that could affect production, quality or safety.
What We're Looking For:
- Previous experience in a production, manufacturing, warehouse, yard or similar environment.
- A valid forklift licence.
- Side-loader forklift experience is highly desirable.
- Experience handling timber, long lengths of material or similar products would be advantageous.
- A practical, hands-on approach with the ability to work across different areas of the site.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- A proactive and flexible approach, with a willingness to get involved wherever required.
- Good awareness of health and safety procedures.
- Ability to work outdoors and undertake manual work as part of the role.
- Previous experience within the timber, construction, manufacturing or building materials industry is advantageous.
- A positive attitude with a willingness to learn new skills and undertake further training.
