Playworker
About us - Granward ASC is a successful and busy out of school Club based in Wardie Residents Club, Edinburgh, providing after school and holiday club care for children in their final year of nursery through to primary seven. We are looking to recruit a dedicated, enthusiastic, and motivated individual to join our team on a part time basis.
The successful applicant must have a recognized qualification in childcare or play work at SVQ, HNC or the equivalent. We will also consider applicants who are willing to work towards a recognized qualification and have at least 6 months minimum experience in a nursery, school, after school club or any other childcare establishment.
The position is Monday to Thursday 2-6pm during term time. However you will be expected to support our holiday club services during the Easter, Summer & holidays.
Requirements – No two days are alike, so energy and creativity are a must! You might be leading an arts and crafts activity, doing some home baking, den building, going on a bear hunt, directing a play, or supervising our homework station. We’re very much child centered so the only limit to what we offer is the children’s imaginations.
Furthermore, you must possess the skills required to rapidly count numerous moving children and be a quick as a gazelle, when you witness the mischievous look in a child’s eye.
Now more than ever is a big encouragement for children to spend more time outdoors. Therefore, an attraction for the outdoors and an enthusiasm which can be absorbed by others would be a desirable quality.
Finally, you must be prepared to feel loved, special, and important to many young children and their families.
The successful applicant will be required to meet the criteria for registration with the Protection of Vulnerable Groups Scheme, Scottish Social Services.
