Wessex Fire & Security are one of Dorset’s leading, well-established Fire and Security companies who are now part of the andwis group of companies. We have over 40 years’ experience in the Fire & Security business both in domestic and commercial settings. We are seeking an experienced Fire Extinguisher Engineer to join our team. Due to our continued expansion and growth within the andwis group we have an exciting opportunity based predominantly in and around the Dorset, Hampshire, Somerset and Wiltshire areas to deliver our service contracts.
Role:
Wessex Fire and Security are seeking an experienced fire extinguisher engineer to join our service team. A strong knowledge of BS5306 and formal FETA certification (or equivalent) is essential for the role.
Reporting directly to the Service Manager the duties of the post holder will include the handling, commissioning, service, and disposal of all types of portable fire appliances to current British and EN standards. This role requires a self-motivated and reliable individual who is happy to handle their own workload and enjoys working face to face with customers. Reporting to the Service Manager, you will be trusted to liaise directly with your assigned clients to arrange appointments, as well as encouraged to broaden our client base where possible.
Site and service records are required to be carefully maintained with customer interaction and delivery essential through the process whilst always adhering to current standards and practices throughout. Successful candidate will have the confidence and ability to work efficiently on their own and as part of a team when required. Liaise with engineer teams, co-ordination team and service manager to promote and maintain the company’s high standards and efficiencies at all times.
Key Responsibilities:
· Servicing, commissioning, and installing all types of portable fire extinguishers and blankets to current British and EN standards with the ability for the company to register the successful candidates certification and standards under the BAFE accreditation scheme which the comapny maintains.
· Maintain site and service records using a PDA and laptop to complete compliance across a range of sites for customer and company.
· Present and demonstrate portable extinguisher equipment to customers when requested including basic training of which training can be given for the right candidate.
· Check and audit site signage against current standards and remedy or log details for improvements to meet standards.
· Manage weekly diary bookings and visits assisted by our in-house coordination team to deliver structured working weeks conducting your planned day in the most cost effective and efficient manner servicing our client base and completing calls in an effective process.
· Ensure to replenish stock levels in an efficient, timely and economical manner by reviewing work activities and ordering items in a timely approach with our in-house stores team to keep work tasks constantly active and effective.
· Be responsible for the management, maintenance and security of all company and personal equipment and stock.
· Attend in house and external training courses when required.
· Attend engineer meetings and toolbox talks.
Knowledge of the associated ‘CASH’ service management package would be of benefit but is not essential as full on the job training will be provided.
Essential Competencies:
· A strong knowledge of BS5306 and formal FETA certification (or equivalent)

· Strong computer skills with Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook essential. Training on other company based packages to be given.
· Valid UK driving license.
· Ability to obtain a clean DBS certificate.
Remuneration:
- £26,000 - £28,000 basic wage for a 37.5 hour working week DOE
- Travel paid door to door on top of the basic salary at the engineers hourly rate
