Overview
We are seeking a trainee Swaging Machine Setter / Operator to join our manufacturing team. This role involves setting up, operating, and maintaining swaging machines to produce control cable assemblies for the aviation industry. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical knowledge and experience with fabrication processes, ensuring efficient production while adhering to safety standards. This position offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic environment where precision and technical expertise are critical.
Duties
- Set up and calibrate swaging machines according to specifications / drawings and technical documentation.
- Monitor machine operation during production runs, making adjustments as necessary for quality and efficiency
- Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and troubleshooting on machinery to prevent downtime
- Handle materials and tooling safely, ensuring correct placement and secure fastening for each operation
- Utilise hand tools and welding equipment for minor repairs or modifications when required
- Interpret technical drawings to ensure accurate fabrication
- Maintain accurate records of production data, machine settings, and quality checks
- Follow safety protocols and contribute to a clean, organised work environment
Qualifications
- Mechanical knowledge with the ability to interpret technical drawings and schematics
- Competence with hand tools, tooling, and basic maths for measurements and calculations
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced setting
This role requires applicants to be organised, detail-oriented, and committed to maintaining high standards of safety and quality throughout the production process.
Pay: £12.71-£14.00 per hour
