Client Care Advisor
Join Cedar Vets as a Client Care Advisor and become one of the first people our clients turn to when they need us.
This is much more than a traditional veterinary receptionist role.
Our Client Care Advisors are skilled, calm and organised client-care professionals. You will spend your day helping people — whether that's reassuring a worried pet owner, answering a busy phone line, managing a waiting room, booking the right appointment, explaining preventative healthcare or working with our clinical team to keep a client's visit running smoothly.
It is a busy, varied and highly people-focused role. You will communicate with clients face-to-face, over the phone and through digital channels, often balancing several priorities at once while making sure the details are right.
You will work across our practices in Alton, Alresford, Bordon and Four Marks, so variety and flexibility are an important part of the role.
What the Role Really Involves
On any given day you may be:
- Welcoming clients and reassuring worried or upset pet owners.
- Answering telephone, email and digital enquiries.
- Booking appointments and helping clients understand the appropriate next step.
- Managing a busy waiting room with confidence, kindness and professionalism.
- Turning enquiries into booked consults through great conversation and client education.
- Recommending preventative care, including our Lifetime Care Club.
- Handling payments and helping clients understand charges.
- Dispensing medications once trained and ensuring clients leave with the correct information.
- Supporting vets and nurses by keeping client flow smooth and information accurate.
- Staying two steps ahead — prioritising what matters most in the moment.
- Keeping reception and client areas organised and ready for anything.
- Working closely with colleagues across all four Cedar Vets practices.
There will be happy conversations, routine conversations and difficult ones. Our clients may be excited about a new puppy one moment and facing a frightening diagnosis or saying goodbye to a much-loved pet the next.
Being able to adapt how you communicate, remain calm and make people feel genuinely cared for is a big part of the job.
If you are looking for an “easy front desk job”, this will not be the right environment.
But you won't be expected to know everything from day one. You will have training and a supportive team around you. What matters to us is that you want to learn, take ownership and become genuinely excellent at Client Care.
What We Are Looking For
You don't need previous veterinary experience. We are much more interested in the way you work with people.
You will be a great fit if you are:
Warm, empathetic and people-centred
You genuinely like helping people, including when they are worried, frustrated or upset.
Calm under pressure
A busy waiting room, ringing phone and several competing priorities don't rattle you. You organise, communicate and keep things moving.
A proactive problem-solver
You don't simply wait to be told what to do. You notice what needs doing, look for solutions and follow things through.
A confident communicator
You are comfortable starting conversations, asking questions and explaining things clearly, whether that's face-to-face, over the phone or in writing.
Proud of your professionalism
Accuracy, presentation, small details and keeping your promises matter to you.
Flexible and team-focused
You understand that great Client Care depends on the whole practice working together. When the team is stretched, you step in and help.
Resilient and growth-minded
You are open to feedback, want to get better and are comfortable learning from things that don't go perfectly.
About Cedar Vets
Owned and run by husband and wife Charlie and Lara, Cedar Vets has been proudly established in the local community for over 130 years.
As an independent practice with deep local roots, we are passionate about preserving our “why” — quite simply, we care.
We care about clinical standards, continually investing in improvement and development so we can be the best primary care practice we can be.
We care deeply about our people, their wellbeing, work-life balance and long-term career development.
And we care about our clients, taking time to inform decisions and deliver thoughtful, contextualised care that truly puts patients first.
Cedar Vets operates across Alton, Alresford, Bordon and Four Marks, with modern facilities and a growing team.
At Cedar Vets, you will find a values-led, collaborative environment, genuine leadership support and the opportunity to develop as the practice grows.
The Cedar Way
Our culture is shaped by five core values:
We Care
For clients, their pets and each other — especially in the tough moments.
One Team
No silos. No egos. We step in, step up and support one another.
Better Every Day
Curiosity, growth and a willingness to learn — not perfection.
Sustainable Growth
We invest in people, quality and doing things the right way.
Create Your Own Path
We encourage initiative and value people who spot problems and solve them.
These aren't just words on a wall. They describe how we expect to work with our clients and with each other.
What You'll Need
- Experience in customer service or other client-facing work — this does not need to be within a veterinary practice.
- Strong communication skills with both clients and colleagues.
- Confidence using computer systems.
- The ability to manage multiple priorities clearly and calmly.
- A positive attitude and commitment to our values.
- Flexibility to work some evenings and weekends.
- A full UK driving licence and the ability to work across our four practices.
What You'll Get From Us
You will join a supportive team where Client Care is recognised as an important professional part of the practice.
We will give you the training and support you need to develop your skills, including opportunities to build your knowledge of veterinary Client Care, communication, preventative healthcare and dispensing.
As Cedar Vets continues to grow, there are opportunities to develop within Client Care and take on greater responsibility. We believe strongly in helping people develop and create their own path.
If you enjoy helping people, like being busy, take pride in doing things properly and want a role where the way you make people feel genuinely matters, we'd love to hear from you.
