Property Accountant (Remote)

The Company
Bread & Butter Collective is a remote-first specialist student lettings and property management business. We manage around 1,200 rooms across Newcastle, Nottingham, Bristol, Exeter, Falmouth and London, looking after everything from first enquiry to move-in and beyond.

Your Role as a Property Accountant
Your role will include the following:
- Preparation of monthly management accounts for our property portfolios, ensuring all costs are coded correctly and presenting actual results against budgets and forecasts. This includes revenue recognition, accruals, and prepayments.
- Financial analysis, such as capital and development spend
- Reconciliation of bank accounts and merchant services card accounts
- Administration of annual budgets and forecasts
- Property finance, including negotiating and administering utilities contracts, and evaluating utilities spend and consumption
- Administration of council tax
- Sales invoicing and recharging across group companies
- Covering for the Purchase Ledger Supervisor
- VAT returns
Experience and Skills Required
- +2 years of general accounting experience, including working across all ledgers or within different areas of finance
- Experience assisting with management accounts preparation, including accruals and prepayments
- Proven history of working with Excel spreadsheets and large volumes of data
- Confident with technology, and keen to learn new systems
To be successful you will be comfortable managing routine tasks with precision while embracing complex challenges.
Experience and Skills Desirable
- Full management accounts preparation, including revenue recognition and variance analysis
- Qualified or part-qualified in a recognised accountancy qualification such as the Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT), Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), or Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA)
- Familiarity with Xero accounting software
- Finance experience in a property environment
- Experience working with Claude or other AI tools, including integrations with other software
- Experience with the property management system, such as TRAMPS or similar tool (our system is bespoke)
What Can We Offer You?
Salary: £32,000 to £39,000 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications.
