As a Senior Care Staff member you would play a key leadership role within the care team, ensuring high‑quality, person‑centred support is delivered consistently. This role involves supervising care assistants, maintaining safe and effective care delivery, supporting medication processes, and promoting a positive, dignified experience for every resident. The Senior is responsible for ensuring excellent communication across shifts, maintaining accurate care records, and stepping in to model best practice in all aspects of care.
This role requires an individual who is compassionate, organised, confident in leading others, and committed to upholding high standards of care, compliance, and professionalism.
Key Duties & ResponsibilitiesCare Delivery
- Provide person‑centred support that upholds dignity, independence, and individual preferences.
- Assist with all aspects of personal care, mobility, nutrition, hydration, and daily living activities.
- Respond promptly to residents’ needs and escalating concerns or changes in condition.
- Complete Audits that comply with regulatory guidance
- Administer medication via eMAR
Leadership & Team Support
- Lead the care team throughout the shift, ensuring tasks are delegated appropriately and completed to a high standard.
- Provide guidance, mentorship, and support to junior staff.
- Promote a positive, respectful, and supportive team culture.
Medication Support
- Support medication administration and ensure safe handling, storage, and documentation.
- Undertake medication checks, audits, and ordering processes as required.
- Work with healthcare professionals to follow up on medication queries or changes.
Record Keeping & Compliance
- Maintain accurate, timely, and complete care notes, handover information, and required regulatory records.
- Complete room checks, safety checks, and equipment checks as required.
- Ensure all care practices follow policies, safeguarding requirements, and regulatory standards.
Environment & Safety
- Ensure residents’ rooms and communal areas are safe, clean, and hazard‑free.
- Monitor the use of equipment to ensure safety and correct usage.
- Report maintenance issues or concerns promptly.
Communication & Collaboration
- Lead and contribute to handovers, ensuring clear communication between shifts.
- Build positive relationships with residents, families, colleagues, and external professionals.
- Support with GP rounds, healthcare visits, and updates where required.
Requirements:
- Experienced in elderly care or a similar setting.
- Confident leading shifts and supporting a team.
- Strong communication and organisational skills.
- Compassionate, respectful, and committed to person‑centred care.
- NVQ Level 2 or Level 3 in Health & Social Care (or working towards).
- Medication competency (or willingness to complete training).
