Job Summary
MK Construction & Renovation Ltd is seeking a skilled and reliable Painter and Decorator to join our construction and renovation team on a full-time fixed-term basis. The role is required to support our residential building, extension, loft conversion and renovation projects.
The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing, painting, decorating, finishing and maintaining interior and exterior surfaces to a high professional standard. The Painter and Decorator will report directly to the Director and will work under company supervision on MK Construction & Renovation Ltd projects.
Duties
Carry out painting and decorating work for residential construction, extension, loft conversion and renovation projects.
Prepare interior and exterior surfaces by cleaning, sanding, filling cracks and holes, removing old paint or wallpaper, and applying primers where required.
Apply paint, varnish, stain, wallpaper and other decorative finishes to walls, ceilings, woodwork, doors, windows, skirting boards and other surfaces.
Mix, match and apply paints and finishes according to project requirements, customer specifications and company standards.
Measure work areas and calculate the amount of paint, wallpaper and materials required for each job.
Protect floors, furniture, fixtures and surrounding areas before starting painting or decorating work.
Repair minor surface defects and ensure surfaces are properly prepared before finishing.
Use brushes, rollers, spray equipment, ladders, sanding tools and other painting/decorating equipment safely and effectively.
Ensure all work is completed accurately, safely and to a high standard of workmanship.
Follow health and safety rules, site procedures and company policies at all times.
Maintain a clean and organised work area and ensure tools and materials are used responsibly.
Work with other team members and subcontractors where required to complete projects on time.
Report progress, site issues, material requirements and any safety concerns directly to the Director.
Skills
Previous experience as a Painter and Decorator or in a similar construction/renovation finishing role.
Strong practical knowledge of painting, decorating, surface preparation and finishing techniques.
Ability to use hand tools, painting tools, sanding equipment and relevant decorating equipment safely.
Ability to follow measurements, specifications, colour requirements and site instructions.
Good understanding of health and safety requirements on construction sites.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality workmanship.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Good timekeeping, reliability and willingness to work on different residential project sites.
Physical fitness and stamina to carry out manual decorating work for extended periods.
Pay: £41,700.00 per year
