Production Operator – Somercotes, Derbyshire
£34,770+ per year (£28,500 base + 22% shift allowance) | 4 on / 4 off

Based at our Somercotes site in Derbyshire, you'll work as part of a close-knit Production team, operating specialist equipment and managing the safe processing of customer products. Full training is provided, making this a great opportunity for experienced operators and those looking to develop new skills alike.
The Shift Pattern
This role operates on a continental 4 on / 4 off shift pattern, alternating between day (07:00–19:00) and night (19:00–07:00) shifts, averaging 42 hours per week. That means you'll have roughly half the year off work — ideal if you value time with family, hobbies, or simply a better work-life balance.
What You'll Be Doing
- Operating plant and process control equipment safely and in line with production schedules
- Managing the movement of customer products using forklift trucks and other handling equipment
- Monitoring production timings and using scheduling tools to keep things on track
- Communicating with your team to ensure smooth, efficient shift handovers
- Carrying out pre-use equipment inspections and maintaining accurate operational records
- Supporting continuous improvement initiatives and investigations into process issues
- Completing housekeeping and cleaning activities to maintain a safe, high-standard environment
- Following risk assessments, safe systems of work, and PPE requirements at all times
What We're Looking For
- Experience in a manufacturing, warehousing, production, or processing environment (preferred)
- Reach and Counterbalance Forklift Truck licences
- Basic computer literacy, including Internet Explorer and Barcode Scanners
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to safety and quality
- A calm, organised approach when working under pressure
- Comfortable working in a warm environment — SCBA will be required in certain areas (training will be provided)
