Job Purpose:
To oversee the afternoon/evening sandwich production operation, ensuring the consistent preparation of high-quality products while supervising a small team. The role is responsible for coordinating workflow, maintaining food safety standards, and ensuring production requirements are met efficiently from Sunday to Thursday.
Key Responsibilities:
Operational Management
- Oversee the daily sandwich production during afternoon and evening shifts.
- Ensure all products are prepared to company quality and presentation standards.
- Monitor production levels to meet demand and minimise waste.
- Ensure correct portioning, labelling, and packaging of all products.
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the production area at all times.
Team Leadership & Staff Management
- Supervise, support, and coordinate a team of 4 sandwich makers.
- Allocate tasks and manage workflow to ensure efficient production.
- Provide training and ongoing guidance to team members.
- Monitor staff performance and address any issues promptly.
- Foster a positive and productive working environment.
- Stock & Inventory Control
- Monitor ingredient usage and stock levels throughout shifts.
- Ensure proper stock rotation (FIFO) and storage procedures are followed.
- Report shortages or discrepancies to management.
- Assist with stock preparation for the following day’s production.Compliance & Health & Safety
- Ensure full compliance with food hygiene and health & safety regulations.
- Maintain accurate records including temperature logs and cleaning schedules.
- Ensure all team members follow correct food handling procedures.
- Promote and maintain a safe working environment.
Quality Control & Performance
- Carry out regular checks to ensure product consistency and quality.
- Address production issues quickly to avoid delays or waste.
- Support continuous improvement in processes and efficiency.
- Communicate any operational challenges or improvements to management.
Key Skills & Experience:
- Previous experience in food production, catering, or a similar environment.
- Prior supervisory or team leader experience preferred.
- Knowledge of food hygiene and safety standards (Level 2 Food Hygiene desirable).
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- Ability to lead and motivate a small team.
