Job Overview
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Full-Time Landscape Gardener to join us in this beautiful family garden. In this role, you will be responsible for creating, maintaining, and enhancing outdoor spaces to ensure they are beautiful, functional, and sustainable. Your expertise will help transform landscapes into vibrant environments that inspire and delight. Responsibilities
- Perform landscape maintenance tasks including mowing, pruning, planting, weeding, and mulching to keep outdoor areas healthy and attractive
- Operate a variety of hand tools such as shovels, rakes, pruners, and hedge trimmers with precision and safety
- Use power tools and machinery like excavators, lawnmowers, and trimmers to complete landscaping projects efficiently
- Install and maintain irrigation systems to ensure proper watering of plants and lawns
- Conduct routine maintenance on equipment including cleaning, sharpening blades, and minor repairs to ensure optimal performance
- Assist with construction projects such as building garden beds, pathways, or retaining walls using appropriate construction techniques
- Apply horticultural knowledge to select suitable plants for different environments and provide ongoing plant care
Skills
- Strong background in landscape maintenance and gardening practices
- Mechanical knowledge for troubleshooting and maintaining power tools and machinery
- Proficiency with hand tools and power tools used in landscaping work
- Experience operating heavy machinery such as excavators is highly desirable
- Knowledge of irrigation systems installation and upkeep
- Ability to perform routine equipment maintenance safely and effectively
- Construction experience related to outdoor projects is a plus
- Solid understanding of horticulture principles including plant selection and care
- Excellent teamwork skills with our other gardening staff
- Experience in niwaki pruning and shaping techniques.
- Maintenance of river boundary.
- Help with maintenance of ponds and an interest in encouraging more biodiversity.
