Hours: 2 days per week - with additional hours available as required
Contract: PAYE or Self-Employed
Pay: £15 per hour (PAYE) / £17 per hour (Self Employed)
About the Role
Sevello Children's Homes is looking for a practical, reliable and hardworking Part-Time Maintenance Assistant to support the upkeep of our children's homes across Essex and Suffolk.
Working across our homes in Point Clear, Clacton-on-Sea and Cavendish, you'll carry out a wide variety of maintenance, gardening and health and safety tasks to ensure our homes remain safe, welcoming and well maintained for the children and young people who live there.
This is an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys hands-on work, takes pride in maintaining high standards and is looking for a flexible part-time role.
Key Responsibilities
- General property maintenance and repairs
- Painting and decorating
- Minor plumbing and carpentry
- General DIY tasks
- Furniture repairs and assembly
- Replacing fixtures and fittings where required
- Gardening and grounds maintenance, including:
- Grass cutting
- Hedge trimming
- Weeding
- General upkeep of outdoor areas
- Carrying out minor health and safety remedial works
- Supporting routine health and safety checks
- Assisting with the upkeep and basic maintenance of company vehicles
- Liaising with contractors where specialist work is required
- Identifying and reporting maintenance issues
What We're Looking For
The successful applicant will:
- Have previous experience in property maintenance, facilities management, construction or a similar role
- Be confident carrying out a range of general maintenance tasks
- Be able to work independently and manage their own workload
- Have excellent attention to detail
- Be reliable, organised and trustworthy
- Have a positive, can-do attitude
- Hold a full UK driving licence and be willing to travel between our homes
