St-Edmunds Society have an exciting role available at our Oak Street Norwich Vocational Education Centre for a committed Catering Tutor. The role will involve delivery for young people ages 11-18 (up to 25 with an EHCP) enabling them to progress in their vocational training towards career goals. Job Purpose
· To provide a catering service for the staff and students of St Eds, preparing food to high hygiene standards.
· Responsible for catering budget, expenditure and income for food. Maintaining supply contacts and stock control.
· To deliver high quality teaching and learning in Catering and Hospitality.
· To ensure the health, safety, safeguarding and wellbeing of learners, staff and visitors to the Centre in accordance with St Ed’s operating policies.
· To support all students in achieving their potential by taking a pro-active, enthusiastic and flexible approach in accordance with St Ed’s ethos and corporate strategy.
Core responsibilities
· To develop resources, teaching materials, schemes of work and lesson plans for all lessons against the City and Guilds 7107 Level 1 Introduction to the Hospitality Industry learning standards.
· The deliver and assess school and post 16 students to the City and Guilds learning outcomes.
· Monitoring and maintaining group registers, tracking progress and providing feedback to both students, centre staff and student’s schools where attendance or engagement concerns arise which may impact achievement.
· To support the individual learning styles and needs of each student to promote a positive learning environment and aid their achievement.
· To positively engage with all students including those that display challenging behaviours, enabling students to be treated as individuals in a person-centred manner, utilising the Rewards and Behaviour Policy.
· Deal, in conjunction with Welfare department, with any student conflict or incidents in line with the individual’s plans and St Ed’s policies, ensuring that all incidents are recorded properly.
· Attend standardisation meetings and work in line with Internal Quality Assurance processes, and External Quality Assurance guidance.
· Promote and implement enrichment in line with the calendar of culture to promote British Values, Equality, Diversity and Inclusion, Safeguarding, personal development and life skills.
· To support students to aspire to their future by promoting progression routes and communicating effectively with our Careers and Work Experience Placement Officer.
· Maintaining food supplies, cooking equipment and resources for the purposes of teaching and learning.
· Maintain standards required under the Health & Safety at Work Act and all relevant food safety regulations.
· Contribute to and participate in the whole organisations’ performance, leading by example and working as part of a team.
Other responsibilities
· To ensure that all staff and students are aware of and comply with St Ed’s safeguarding requirements and comply with St Ed’s safeguarding policies and practices laid down
· To contribute to and work in line with risk assessments
· To undertake Continual Professional Development (CPD) to ensure that all vocational, and teaching and learning knowledge is current and up to date.
You need to have
Experience in Teaching, Instructing or Coaching groups
English and Maths at level 2 or equivalent
Proven track record in working with people in a positive way
IT Skills – Microsoft Office Suite
