Pharmacy Dispenser – Private Pharmacy
Knightsbridge Pharmacy – London SW1
£14.00 per hour
Monday to Friday, 10:00am–6:00pm
Full-time | Permanent
About the role
Knightsbridge Pharmacy is an established independent private pharmacy in central London.
We are looking for a friendly, reliable and organised Pharmacy Dispenser to join our team on a full-time basis. Temporary initially, with possibility of permanent.
This is a Monday-to-Friday position with regular 10am–6pm working hours, making it particularly suitable for someone looking for a stable pharmacy role without regular evening or weekend shifts.
Unlike many community pharmacy roles, our dispensary is focused predominantly on private prescriptions rather than NHS dispensing. We work closely with private doctors and clinics and provide patients with a personalised prescription collection and delivery service.
You will work alongside the pharmacist and wider pharmacy team to make sure prescriptions are processed accurately and patients receive their medication efficiently.
What you'll be doing
Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
- Dispensing private prescriptions accurately under the supervision of the pharmacist.
- Processing prescriptions using ProScript.
- Monitoring incoming electronic prescriptions from doctors and clinics.
- Preparing prescriptions for collection or delivery.
- Checking whether prescribed medication is available in stock.
- Ordering medication where required.
- Receiving and putting away pharmacy deliveries.
- Contacting patients regarding their prescriptions.
- Confirming collection or delivery arrangements.
- Sending payment information to patients and recording payments.
- Helping coordinate prescription deliveries.
- Following up prescriptions that are awaiting stock or patient confirmation.
- Keeping prescription records and the dispensary organised.
- Answering telephone calls and responding to routine patient enquiries.
- Escalating clinical questions or concerns to the pharmacist.
Our private prescription service involves managing the prescription from receipt through to payment, dispensing and delivery, so the role gives you experience across the complete prescription journey.
What we're looking for
We're looking for someone who is:
- Reliable and punctual.
- Friendly and professional with patients.
- Organised and able to manage several tasks at once.
- Comfortable using computers and learning pharmacy systems.
- Confident speaking to patients on the telephone.
- Careful and accurate when dispensing.
- Willing to take responsibility for completing tasks rather than leaving them unfinished.
- Happy working as part of a small pharmacy team.
Previous experience working in a pharmacy dispensary is required.
A recognised dispensing qualification such as an NVQ Level 2 / equivalent pharmacy dispensing qualification would be required. Experience using ProScript will be required.
Experience with any of the following would also be helpful, but is not essential:
- Private prescriptions
- Electronic prescriptions
- Pharmacy stock ordering
- Prescription delivery services
- WhatsApp Business
Training will be provided on the pharmacy's systems and procedures.
A different type of community pharmacy
Knightsbridge Pharmacy operates differently from a high-volume NHS pharmacy.
Our team works with private patients, doctors and clinics, and much of our prescription service involves coordinating medication, communicating directly with patients and arranging collection or delivery.
WhatsApp, email and telephone communication are an important part of the service alongside traditional dispensing.
You will also be joining a pharmacy where the dispensary has clear systems for managing prescriptions awaiting stock, patients awaiting contact, outstanding queries and medication ordering.
