Are you looking for a hands-on role within a busy food production environment? We're recruiting for a General Operative – Spice Room to join a leading food manufacturer in Newry.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a keen eye for detail who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment. Full training is provided, making this an ideal role whether you're looking to build on your manufacturing experience or start a new career within the food industry.
The Role
As a General Operative in the Spice Room, you'll play an important role in ensuring ingredients are prepared accurately and safely to support the production process.
Your duties will include:
- Weighing and bagging dry ingredients using company recipe sheets.
- Ensuring recipes are followed accurately while maintaining allergen control procedures.
- Completing food safety and traceability checks throughout production.
- Recording production information and uploading data to the company system.
- Scanning materials using internal systems.
- Rotating stock within the dry ingredients store.
- Maintaining high standards of hygiene within the spice room and storage areas.
- Assisting with product changeovers in line with company procedures.
- Working closely with the wider production team to keep operations running efficiently.
- Carrying out any other duties required by the management team.
Working Hours
Typical working hours are Monday to Thursday, 6:00/7:00am – 5:00/6:00pm, with start times depending on the production area you're working in.
During peak periods, there may be occasional Friday shifts. Any additional Friday work will be communicated via the rota at least one week in advance.
Essential Criteria
- Good written and spoken English.
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to follow recipes and procedures accurately.
- Able to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Strong organisational and communication skills.
- Flexible, reliable and willing to learn.
- A positive attitude with the ability to work well as part of a team.
Desirable
- Previous experience within food production, manufacturing, warehouse or factory environments is advantageous but not essential.
- Experience following food safety, hygiene or quality procedures would be beneficial.
