Post Title: Marine Operations Technician
Accountable to: Assistant Harbour Master
· Seasonal Harbour Attendant will support the safe, efficient and professional operation of Littlehampton Harbour during the winter season. Working under the direction of the Assistant Harbour Master, the postholder will assist with harbour inspections, maintenance checks, customer service, vessel berthing, harbour administration and conservancy activities.
· Assist as crew on harbour patrol vessels and workboats when required
This role is ideal for an individual seeking to gain experience in harbour operations and the maritime industry.
Duties
· Assist with the maintenance, repair, and, replacement of harbour equipment, berths, infrastructure, and vessels.
· Assist with the inspection and maintenance of Navigation Aids, Life Saving Appliances, lifting equipment, and vessel coding requirements.
· Train in oil spill response to MCA 2P standard.
· To assist the AHM with the production and implementation of the planned maintenance schedule.
· Support the planning and implementation of external 3rd party works.
· Undertake patrols and supporting Harbour events.
To assist the Harbour Master with ensuring the enforcement of the General Directions, regulation of harbour traffic, and safe discharge of harbour operations.
Other Duties
· At all times ensure that working practices are in line with health and safety policies and seek to ensure the safety of the marine staff, visitors and stakeholders.
· Other marine duties / tasks as directed.
· All operational hours / shifts as directed.
NB. The nature of the post requires a commitment to Littlehampton Harbour Board outside of normal working hours (e.g. weekends, evenings, Bank Holidays, etc.).
Duties, which include processing of any personal data, must be undertaken within LHB’s data protection guidelines and in line with current data processing legislation e.g. GDPR.
Pay: Up to £25,000.00 per year
