Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and reliable Caretaker to oversee the cleanliness and maintenance of our premises on a Saturday. The ideal candidate will have experience in cleaning and janitorial duties, ensuring a safe, hygienic, and welcoming environment for staff, visitors and hirers alike. The Caretaker will play a vital part in supporting the smooth operation of our facilities through setting up for hirers and ensuring bookings go smoothly.
Duties
- Perform cleaning tasks across various areas, including offices, communal spaces, and specialised facilities, adhering to health and safety standards.
- Maintain cleanliness of floors, windows, restrooms, and other surfaces using appropriate cleaning equipment and products.
- Conduct routine inspections to identify maintenance issues or hazards and report them promptly for resolution.
- Manage waste disposal efficiently, ensuring bins are emptied regularly and areas remain tidy.
- Assist with minor repairs or liaise with external contractors for more complex maintenance work.
- Follow health and safety protocols diligently to create a secure environment for all building users.
- Support organisational efforts by setting up rooms for meetings or events as required.
- This position will be a set 10 hour shift on Saturdays - with opportunities for cover during the week for sickness/holidays.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in commercial cleaning or janitorial roles is highly desirable but not essential.
- Strong organisational skills with an eye for detail to maintain high standards of cleanliness.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while managing multiple tasks efficiently.
- Good physical fitness to perform manual tasks such as lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations related to cleaning and maintenance activities is an advantage but not essential as there will be training available.
- Reliable with a strong work ethic and punctuality.
- Previous experience in facility maintenance or basic repair skills is a plus but not essential.
Pay: £12.65 per hour
