Job Purpose
We are a 5 bed home for young people with EBD. We are seeking a motivated, enthusiastic and committed individual who is a driver to join us in supporting the leadership team in developing this service where the holistic progress of children is at the heart of what we do.
The Senior Support Worker role is to support the Registered Manager in providing the best quality childcare in a safe and care - focussed environment for the young people. When on shift you will have initial responsibilities for monitoring and supervision of Support Workers, providing guidance for colleagues whilst ensuring the welfare and care of the young people.
Pay - you are paid the hourly rate for a minimum of 173 hours per month, plus an on-call bonus and plus a sleep in rate of £50. Any hours you work over 173 per month is classed as overtime and is paid at time and a half, which is currently £24.12p.h.

· To contribute to the normal development of the young people through the provision of a healthy lifestyle, a variety of appropriate activities and a consistent caring adult role model.
Level 3 in Residential Child Care or equivalent is preferred but not essential to start. This is a statutory requirement so will need to be completed within 18 months of starting.
· To contribute to and implement care plans, participate in reviews and other meetings as required and ensuring LAC documentation is up to date and changed when appropriate i.e. after a statutory review.
· To be sensitive to the needs of individual young people, taking account of race, language, religion, sexuality and culture.
· To talk and listen to young people, monitoring their behaviour and recording significant features.
· To promote working in partnership with parents, carers, social workers and any other appropriate persons involved in the care and wellbeing of a child or young person.
· To promote professionalism and high standards to the team in line with policy and procedures.
· To be responsible for the deployment of staff on duty to ensure that the work in the home is appropriately undertaken.
· To participate and lead as needed in regular staff meetings which are informative, produce action and are minuted.
· To participate in the induction of new staff.
· To provide support to the Registered Manager, which may include cover in the managers absence and annual leave.
· To work in accordance with the home’s policies and procedures.
To undertake any other duties that may be reasonably required for the role.
