Job Summary
We are seeking a reliable and motivated Delivery Driver / Yard Operative to join our team. This role involves delivering goods to various locations, assisting with yard operations, and ensuring the smooth running of daily logistics. The ideal candidate will possess strong driving skills, experience in yard or heavy lifting tasks, and excellent communication abilities. Duties
- Safely operate company vehicles, including lorries and vans, to deliver goods to clients and suppliers in a timely manner
- Assist with loading and unloading deliveries, ensuring proper handling of goods and equipment
- Conduct routine vehicle checks and report any maintenance issues promptly
- Support yard operations by organising stock, managing incoming and outgoing materials, and maintaining a clean work environment
- Assist with heavy lifting tasks around the yard, ensuring safety procedures are followed at all times
- Communicate effectively with clients, colleagues, and management regarding delivery schedules or operational needs
- Follow all health and safety regulations during driving and yard activities to ensure a safe working environment
Requirements
- Proven experience as a delivery driver or in a similar role involving commercial driving
- Valid driver’s licence appropriate for the vehicle operated (e.g., LGV or HGV licence preferred)
- Previous warehouse or yard experience is advantageous
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently
- Strong communication skills to liaise effectively with team members and customers.
- Good organisational skills with an organised approach to tasks
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently or as part of a team
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations relevant to driving and yard operations
Pay: £13.50-£14.00 per hour
