Female Support Worker
Location: Ivybridge & South Brent
Contract: Full Time | Part Time | Bank
Pay: £13.65 - £16.00 per hour
At Positive Steps Care & Support, we are looking for compassionate, reliable, and dedicated Female Support Workers to join our growing team. This is a rewarding opportunity to support people with a range of needs to live fulfilling, independent lives whilst making a genuine difference every day.
We currently have vacancies supporting three individuals across a variety of shift patterns. Successful applicants may work with one individual or across multiple support packages, depending on availability and service needs.
Current Support Opportunities
Mental Health Support (2:1)
Provide structured 2:1 support to a young woman living with mental health needs, helping her maintain her independence, follow positive routines, access the community, and live the life she chooses in a safe and person-centred way.
Community & Wellbeing Support
Support a lady in her 70’s with mental health needs by promoting her independence, wellbeing, and confidence through companionship and community-based activities such as attending the theatre and cinema, day trips out, visiting church and attending community-based groups.
Independent Living Support
Support a gentleman in his 60’s within his own home to maintain his independence by assisting with everyday living, including household tasks, meal preparation, shopping, attending appointments, and accessing the local community around his work commitments.
Available shifts:
- Day Shifts: 08:00 – 20:00
- Long Day & Sleep-in: 08:00 – 22:00 followed by 22:00 – 08:00
- Waking Nights: 20:00 – 08:00
- Weekday Support: 10:00 – 18:00
- Weekend Support: 11:00 – 15:00
About the Role
As a Support Worker, you will provide person-centred support tailored to each individual's needs, goals, and preferences. Depending on the package you are working on, your responsibilities may include:
- Promoting independence, choice, and dignity.
- Supporting daily living skills, routines, and emotional wellbeing.
- Assisting with household tasks, meal preparation, shopping, and attending appointments.
- Supporting individuals to access their local community, hobbies, and social activities.
- Working closely with colleagues to deliver safe, high-quality care, including 2:1 support where required.
- Maintaining accurate records and communicating effectively with the wider team.
- Building positive, professional relationships while always respecting individual choice and maintaining clear professional boundaries.
About You
We are looking for someone who is:
- Compassionate, patient, and caring.
- Reliable with a strong work ethic.
- A confident communicator who enjoys working with people.
- Able to work independently and as part of a supportive team.
- Flexible to work a varied rota, including weekends and bank holidays.
- Committed to delivering high-quality, person-centred support.
Previous experience in care or supporting people with mental health is desirable but not essential. We provide a full induction, comprehensive training, and ongoing support, so we're just as interested in your values and attitude as we are in your experience.
