Job Role: Plant fitter - Workshop Based
Location: Farnham, Surrey
Basic Salary: £38,000 + Overtime - OTE £45,000
Hours: 40 hours basic (08:00 - 16:30) - Monday - Friday
My client is a major player within the construction machinery sector. They are currently look9ing to add a new workshop based Plant Fitter to their growing team at their depot located in Farnham, Surrey.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out PDI (Pre-Delivery Inspection) on new machines and fit additional parts and attachments as required.
- Investigate, diagnose and resolve customer reports of technical problems with equipment.
- Perform general engineering duties, including working at height and beneath/within machines.
- Repair and maintain machinery using company-supplied lifting equipment.
- Drive and manoeuvre machines inside and outside of the workshop.
- Service a wide variety of machines within the workshop environment.
- Work independently to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues.
- Complete job cards to a high standard within agreed timeframes.
- Complete all paperwork and timesheets accurately and promptly.
- Request parts efficiently and effectively.
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external customers.
- Supervise other workshop engineers when required, ensuring high-quality workmanship and safe working practices.
- Provide cover for the Foreman during absence or annual leave.
- Assist with booking machines in and out of the workshop.
- Ensure machines are prepared and ready for transport/collection.
- Follow all relevant procedures when repairing and inspecting equipment.
- Ensure work and personal equipment complies with all safety standards.
- Manage warranty parts returns in line with company procedures.
- Comply with all company policies and procedures.
- Carry out all duties in accordance with the Company Health and Safety Policy.
- Contribute to the overall success of the business through teamwork and effective communication.
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness and housekeeping within the workshop.
- Present a professional image at all times.
- Ensure personal tools are safe and compliant for use.
- Use only company-supplied lifting equipment (including straps, trolley jacks, etc.).
- Remain flexible and adaptable to all aspects of the role.
Essential Requirements
- City & Guilds Level 2 in Plant Maintenance & Repair or equivalent
- OR recent hands-on experience working as a Plant Fitter
- Solid mechanical knowledge across diesel, hydraulics, and electrical systems
- Full UK driving licence
- Good problem-solving skills and a strong work ethic
