Overview
The Night Support Worker provides essential overnight care and supervision to children and young people in our specialist children’s home. You will ensure their safety, well-being, and comfort during the night, responding to their needs and supporting a calm, secure environment. You will work in line with individual care plans, safeguarding policies, and regulatory standards to promote positive outcomes and continuity of care.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide safe, attentive overnight care and supervision, responding promptly to children’s needs.
- Support children’s emotional well-being and promote restful sleep routines.
- Implement individual care and behaviour plans during night hours.
- Follow safeguarding procedures and report any concerns immediately.
- Maintain accurate records of night-time care, incidents, and observations.
- Collaborate with day staff to ensure continuity of care and share relevant information.
- Ensure the home environment is secure, safe, and meets health and safety standards.
- Participate in training and development to maintain professional competence.
- Work flexibly to cover night shifts including weekends and sleep-ins as required.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential:
- Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent) or willingness to work towards it.
- Experience working with children and young people in care, education, or social care settings.
- Understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
Desirable:
- Experience in residential children’s homes or similar environments.
- First Aid qualification desirable.
- Driving licence.

- Awareness of safeguarding legislation and risk assessment.
- Effective communication skills tailored to children’s needs.
Other Requirements
- Ability to work a flexible shift patterns (nights, weekends).
- 4-on-4-off rota pattern.
- Availability for the 24/7 on-call management support rota.
- Enhanced DBS clearance (child workforce).
- Physical ability to respond to challenging situations and support children’s activities.
Pay: £33,150.00-£39,000.00 per year
