About the Role
We are a well-established, medium-sized UK manufacturing company looking for an experienced Accounts Manager to take responsibility for the day-to-day running of our accounts function.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced accounts professional who is confident working independently and wants to play an important role within a growing manufacturing business.
You will be responsible for managing the accounts function, producing accurate financial information and ensuring the smooth running of our day-to-day financial operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Take responsibility for the day-to-day running of the accounts department.
- Produce monthly management accounts, including:
- Profit & Loss accounts
- Balance sheets
- Debtor and creditor reports
- Other management information as required
- Manage credit control and monitor customer accounts and outstanding balances.
- Monitor and improve debtor days and cash collection.
- Manage purchase and sales ledger processes.
- Carry out bank reconciliations and other routine accounting duties.
- Prepare and process Sage payroll/wage runs.
- Maintain accurate financial records and ensure accounts are kept up to date.
- Work closely with management to provide financial information and support business decisions.
- Identify discrepancies and resolve accounting issues promptly.
- Use spreadsheets extensively for reporting, analysis and financial control.
- Learn and become proficient in our internal software systems. Full training will be provided.
About You
We are looking for someone with proven experience in an accounts role who can take ownership of the accounts function and work with a high level of accuracy and independence.
Essential requirements:
- Proven experience in an accounts position, ideally with experience managing or overseeing an accounts function.
- Relevant accounting qualifications/accreditations.
- Strong experience using Sage.
- Experience running Sage payroll/wages.
- Strong spreadsheet/Excel skills.
- Experience producing management accounts, including P&L and balance sheets.
- Solid understanding of credit control and debtor management.
- Experience monitoring and improving debtor days.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to manage deadlines and prioritise workload.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work with colleagues across the business.
- ACA / ACCA Qualified or equivalent
Experience within a manufacturing environment would be advantageous, although not essential.
