DLS Electrical is an established Shrewsbury-based electrical contractor working across domestic, commercial and light industrial installations throughout Shropshire and the surrounding counties. Alongside the core electrical business we design and install smart home, lighting control and security systems — so no two weeks look the same.
The role
You’ll be working on a genuine mix of jobs. One week you might be first-fixing a rear extension, the next chasing an intermittent fault on a callout, the next running data and control cable for a lighting control system. We’re looking for someone who’s happy to get their hands dirty on the bread-and-butter work as well as the more interesting stuff. There is very occasionally the need to work away, though you will be given plenty of notice if required.
Typical work includes:
- Refurbishments, extensions, loft conversions and consumer unit changes
- Fault finding, breakdown and repair callouts
- Inspection and testing — EICRs, remedials and certification
- Commercial installation and maintenance work
- Additional sockets, lighting alterations and outdoor power
- Containment, SWA and three-phase work on larger jobs
- Smart home and lighting control installations (Rako, Lutron, Elan and similar) — training provided
- CCTV, access control and network cabling
- Exterior and garden lighting installs
What we’re looking for
- NVQ Level 3 / City & Guilds 2365 or equivalent, time-served
- 18th Edition (BS 7671) — essential
- C&G 2391 Inspection & Testing — preferred
- Full UK driving licence
- Sound fault-finding ability and confidence working unsupervised
- Tidy, methodical work and a professional manner in customers’ homes
- Own hand tools
- ECS/CSCS card an advantage
- Interest in smart home and lighting technology welcome, but not essential — we’ll train you

- £30,000 to £40,000+, with pay set on ability — we’ll pay properly for the right person
