The Opportunity
We are looking for an experienced and motivated Area Manager to join us on a 10-month fixed-term contract, covering a period of maternity leave. Based in the Midlands, you will take responsibility for a portfolio of self storage facilities managed by Engage, supporting site teams to deliver exceptional customer service and strong commercial results across all locations.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of multiple managed self storage facilities across the Midlands region.
- Support, coach and develop site-level teams to deliver outstanding customer experiences and meet performance targets.
- Monitor and drive key commercial metrics including occupancy rates, revenue per available unit, and customer retention.
- Conduct regular site visits to ensure facilities are maintained to the highest standards of presentation, safety and compliance.
- Act as the primary point of contact between Engage Management Services and individual facility operators.
- Implement company policies, procedures and best practices consistently across all managed sites.
- Produce clear, accurate reports for senior management on site performance, issues and opportunities.
- Manage escalated customer queries and complaints, ensuring swift and satisfactory resolution.
- Lead on monthly feedback calls to clients to cover performance during the previous month.
- Identify and support the delivery of operational improvements and efficiency initiatives.
About You
We are looking for a proven operator who can hit the ground running. The ideal candidate will have:
- Demonstrable experience within the self storage industry, ideally in an operational or management capacity.
- A track record of managing multiple sites or locations simultaneously.
- Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop teams.
- A commercially focused mindset with the ability to analyse performance data and take decisive action.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- The ability to work independently, manage your own diary and prioritise effectively across a regional patch.
- A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel regularly across the Midlands.
- Proficiency with standard office software and reporting tools.
What We Offer
- Salary of £40,000 per annum (pro rata for contract duration).
