Overview
The National Horseracing Museum in Newmarket is looking for an experienced Cleaner to join the cleaning team to help consistently maintain the high standard of cleanliness and presentation of this important historic site.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
· General cleaning across all areas of the site including dusting, sweeping, vacuuming, and mopping.
· Specific cleaning of exhibition areas and display cabinets for which full training will be provided.
· Ensure toilets and visitor facilities are clean, hygienic and well-presented throughout with the understanding that the standard of cleanliness and presentation contributes directly to the overall visitor experience.
· Stock and maintain supplies and keep cleaning cupboards in an orderly state.
· Empty bins and dispose of waste appropriately in accordance with Museum procedures.
· Report any damage, maintenance issues, spillages, hazards or defects promptly to the Facilities Manager. As the site will be open to visitors whilst duties are carried out, a strong regard for health and safety regulations is required.
· Maintain a professional, friendly and helpful approach when working in public areas and be considerate of visitors while undertaking cleaning duties.
· Carry out additional cleaning as required following events, functions and busy visitor periods.
· Follow Museum procedures relating to security, keys, alarms and access to restricted areas.
Person Specification
- Previous experience of cleaning in a commercial, hospitality, public or similar environment.
- Good attention to detail and pride in maintaining high standards.
- Reliable, punctual, flexible and able to work independently.
- Good understanding of hygiene and safe working practices.
- Ability to follow instructions and established procedures.
- Ability to use cleaning equipment and products safely.
- Good communication skills.
- Physically able to undertake the duties of the role, including standing, bending, lifting and moving cleaning equipment.
Terms and Conditions:
Salary: £12.71 ph
Term: Permanent part-time role including a three-month probation
period.
Hours of work: 12 hrs per week ((8am-12 noon, Mon, Thurs and Sat)
Annual leave: 28 days including public holidays pro rata.
Notice period: Following probation period one month on either side
