Newport City Council’s Social Services Business Support Team is seeking to appoint a proactive, motivated, and hard-working individual to the post of Business Support Liberty Safeguards Officer.
The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the delivery and administration of DoLS (Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards), including recording and monitoring processes, and providing additional support to the Adult Business Support Team Leader and team. As deprivation of liberty arrangements continue to change, this role offers an opportunity to be part of supporting and shaping how this is delivered in Newport.
The successful candidate must be organised, have good attention to detail, the ability to prioritise and have excellent written and oral communication skills, as they will act as the point of contact for all DoLS queries for Newport City Council, keep up to date with future developments in DoLS legislation, and provide DoLS training for the Business Support Team.
The post holder must possess excellent IT skills and have experience of using all Microsoft Office applications as there will be a requirement to provide regular statistics and information to Welsh Government, regional teams, and Adult Social Services. A flexible approach to work is also essential due to the nature of the role within the team.
Currently, the post holder will be required to work from home, and work at the Civic Centre or other Newport City Council offices will also be necessary at times.
If you think you have the skills we need and would like to join us, we would like to hear from you! For more information regarding the position, please contact Lisa Broomsgrove, Business Support Team Leader [email protected]
We welcome applications for all our jobs in either Welsh or English. An application submitted in Welsh will not be treated less favourably than an application submitted in English.
Newport City Council is committed to working towards its workforce being more representative of the population that we serve and particularly welcomes applications from people from minority ethnic communities represented (or living) in the city. Selection will be made on ability and skills to undertake the role.
Newport City Council is not currently supporting applicants with sponsorship for right to work. In applying for a vacancy, applicants should already have the right to work in the UK.
