We are looking for a knowledgeable, enthusiastic and customer-focused Shop Assistant & Supplements Advisor to join our friendly team.
This role would suit someone with a genuine interest in supplements, vitamins, nutrition, natural health, cosmetics and wellbeing, who enjoys helping customers and has the confidence to provide informed advice within the legal and professional boundaries of the role.
The successful candidate will be expected to develop a strong understanding of our supplement range and use this knowledge to help customers make informed purchasing decisions. A good existing knowledge of supplements and natural health products is essential for this position, together with a willingness to continue learning and keeping up to date with product information and industry developments.
Key responsibilities
Customer Service & Supplements Advice:
- Welcome customers warmly and provide friendly, professional and knowledgeable assistance.
- Listen carefully to customers’ needs and help them identify suitable products from our range.
- Provide accurate information and advice on supplements, vitamins, cosmetics and body care products, always working within legal guidelines, company procedures and the limits of your role.
- Understand supplement ingredients, product uses and key differences between products sufficiently to guide customers confidently.
- Know when a customer’s query is outside the scope of the role and refer them to an appropriate healthcare professional where necessary.
- Keep up to date with new products, product information, supplier guidance and developments within the natural health and supplements industry.
- Build positive relationships with customers and provide a high standard of service at all times.
- Process transactions accurately using computerised tills, barcode scanners and electronic payment systems.
- Follow all cash-handling and till procedures accurately.
Stock & Shop Presentation
- Ensure shelves are fully stocked, organised and attractively presented.
- Restock products efficiently and rotate stock where required.
- Assist with stock checks and inventory control to help maintain accurate stock levels.
- Check product presentation, pricing and availability and report any issues.
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness, hygiene and presentation throughout the shop.
Training & Development
- Attend supplier presentations, seminars and in-house training to develop and maintain product knowledge.
- Take responsibility for continuously developing your knowledge of supplements, nutrition, natural health products and relevant industry developments.
- Share relevant product knowledge and learning with colleagues to support the wider team’s understanding.
- Keep up to date with changes to product information, company procedures and legal requirements relevant to the role.
About you
We are looking for someone who:
- Has good existing knowledge of supplements, vitamins and natural health products.
- Has a genuine interest in health, wellbeing and nutrition.
- Is confident speaking with customers and explaining product information clearly and responsibly.
- Understands the importance of providing advice within appropriate legal and professional boundaries.
- Is approachable, friendly and able to build trust with customers.
- Is comfortable working in a busy retail environment.
- Is reliable, organised and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Is keen to continue learning and developing their product knowledge.
- Has good attention to detail when dealing with stock, tills and customer enquiries.
- Previous experience working in a health food shop, supplement store, pharmacy, nutrition or wellbeing environment would be an advantage.
General duties
- Represent Greenlife professionally and help maintain the shop’s reputation for excellent customer service and knowledgeable advice.
- Work cooperatively with colleagues and contribute positively to the wider team.
- Follow Greenlife’s policies, procedures and standards.
- Undertake other reasonable duties appropriate to the role as required.
The successful applicant will be expected to demonstrate their existing knowledge of supplements during the recruitment process.
