Location: Birmingham, Sandwell and surrounding West Midlands areas (community-based with regular travel)
Salary: £26,325 per annum
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Contract: Fixed Term until 31 March 2027

Age Connects West Midlands is looking for an enthusiastic, confident and proactive Community and Carer Engagement Officer to help raise awareness of our services and strengthen our presence across Birmingham, Sandwell and the wider West Midlands.
This is a predominantly community-based role. Whilst there will be administrative responsibilities, record keeping, reporting and occasional office-based work, the majority of your time will be spent out in local communities, attending networking events, building relationships with partner organisations and representing the charity at a wide range of meetings, forums, conferences and outreach activities.
We are looking for someone who enjoys meeting new people, developing partnerships and creating opportunities that make a real difference to local people. You will be a visible ambassador for Age Connects West Midlands, helping to increase awareness of our services and ensuring local communities know where to access support.

About the Role
As our Community and Carer Engagement Officer, you will act as a visible ambassador for Age Connects West Midlands across Birmingham, Sandwell and the wider West Midlands.
You will build relationships with local organisations, healthcare providers, voluntary sector partners, community groups, businesses, local authorities and funders to increase awareness of our services and develop new opportunities for collaboration.
A key part of this role is ensuring unpaid carers, older people and local communities know where they can access support whilst helping the organisation expand its reach and impact.
What You'll Be Doing
- Representing Age Connects West Midlands at networking events, conferences, exhibitions, community forums and stakeholder meetings across Birmingham, Sandwell and the wider West Midlands.
- Building and maintaining relationships with voluntary organisations, NHS partners, local authorities, community groups, businesses and funders.
- Developing new referral pathways and partnership opportunities that increase access to support for local communities.
- Delivering presentations, information sessions and awareness-raising activities to a variety of audiences.
- Promoting the organisation's services, projects, campaigns and initiatives within local communities.
- Identifying opportunities for collaborative working, sponsorship, funding and community investment.
- Recruiting and supporting volunteers, community champions and local advocates.
- Gathering community feedback and intelligence to help shape future services and identify emerging needs.
- Supporting community events, engagement activities, campaigns and fundraising initiatives.
- Maintaining accurate records, reports and administrative systems to support service delivery and demonstrate impact.

We are seeking someone who:
- Has experience in community engagement, outreach, stakeholder engagement or partnership development.
- Is confident attending events, networking and representing an organisation professionally.
- Enjoys building relationships and working with a wide range of people and organisations.
- Has excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Can work independently, use initiative and manage a varied workload.
- Has knowledge of the voluntary, community, health or social care sector.
- Is passionate about improving outcomes for carers, older people and local communities.
