Job Overview
We are seeking a friendly and efficient Cafe Assistant/Barista to join our vibrant team. This role involves taking food orders, preparing and serving beverages and food, making speciality coffee, providing excellent customer service, resetting and tidying the play area and maintaining a clean and welcoming environment. The ideal candidate will have a passion for hospitality, along with a keen eye for detail to ensure customer satisfaction. Responsibilities
- Prepare and serve a variety of hot and cold beverages and food, including toasties, sandwiches, coffee, tea, and specialised drinks, ensuring quality standards are met.
- Assist customers with their orders in a friendly and professional manner, providing excellent customer service at all times.
- Greet & check in customers
- Maintain cleanliness of the café area, including counters, tables, and equipment in compliance with food safety standards.
- Manage till operations accurately, including handling card payments
- Tidy and reset the play area after a play session
- Restock supplies and ingredients as needed to ensure smooth daily operations.
- Follow health and safety guidelines diligently to maintain a safe environment for staff and customers.
- Support team members during busy periods to ensure efficient service delivery.
Skills
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices in handling food and beverages.
- Previous barista experience is desirable but not essential; training will be provided for the right candidate.
- Experience in serving customers in a fast-paced environment with excellent interpersonal skills.
- Basic food preparation skills to assist with light kitchen tasks.
- Strong time management abilities to prioritise tasks effectively during busy periods.
- Ability to work well within a team while also demonstrating independence when required.
Working days
This role is for 3 or 4 days per week, Tuesday to Friday.
Hours:
Tuesday 9:15-3:30
Wednesday 9-5:15
Thursday 9:15-3:30
Friday 9:15 - 5:15
But these can be adjusted slightly if needed.
