Job Overview
We are seeking a passionate and energetic Chef/Cook to join our dynamic Catering team at Primrose House Care Home located in Felling! In this vital role, you will be responsible for preparing and cooking a variety of delicious dishes, ensuring high standards of food quality, safety, and presentation. Your leadership skills will shine as you supervise kitchen operations, manage food production, and inspire your team to deliver exceptional dining experiences.
Duties
- Prepare, cook, and present a wide range of menu items with precision and creativity
- Understanding of IDDSI, Food allergies and intolerances and medical conditions such as diabetes.
- Supervise kitchen staff, providing guidance and support to ensure smooth operations
- Manage food production processes, maintaining consistency and quality standards
- Ensure all food safety protocols are followed diligently to uphold hygiene and sanitation regulations
- Oversee food inventory, ordering supplies as needed to prevent shortages or waste
- Lead team management efforts by training new staff and fostering a collaborative kitchen environment
- Ensure Record Keeping is maintained to a high standard ready for inspection by regulatory bodies such as Environmental Health, CQC and Local Authorities.
- Serve as a role model in hospitality, demonstrating excellent customer service through food presentation and interaction
Skills
- Proven experience in food preparation, cooking, and kitchen operations within a restaurant or hospitality setting
- Experience in Care Homes is highly desirable
- Supervising experience with the ability to lead and motivate a team effectively
- Strong knowledge of food safety standards and sanitation practices
- Excellent culinary skills with an eye for detail in food presentation including textured diet presentation.
- Leadership qualities that inspire teamwork and maintain high morale in the kitchen
- Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Effective communication skills to coordinate with staff and ensure seamless service
