OT Job purpose:
To work full time as part of our friendly team in a nurturing environment for children aged between six weeks to twelve years. The role may require working across different age groups.
Main duties:
· Assist in the management of resources and development of the environment to ensure they are appropriate to support children’s learning and reflect their interests and needs.
· Establish good relationships with children, parents and colleagues to ensure that the Nursery is friendly and welcoming.
· Support the involvement of parents as partners in childrens learning and share information about children’s progress on a regular.
· Support the development and delivery of new initiatives and remain open to change and development within the service.
· Liaise with other staff to share information and contribute to the assessment of children to record progress.
· Liaise with the team to share information to ensure smooth transitions for all children.
· Contribute to the development and implementation of the nursery policies and procedures.
· Contribute and implement with the staff team the current Nursery development plans,
Ensure the health and safety of children is maintained during all activities both inside and outside the Nursery.
· Participate in continued self-evaluation within the Nursery.
· Keeping up-to-date with changes in the curriculum and development in best practice.
· Work collaboratively with colleagues from other agencies to offer support for children and their families.
· Ensures that equipment is well maintained, hygienic and safe for children to use.
· Ensure that the entrance area of the Nursery is secure and that effective systems are in place to protect children.
· Provide support for children with additional support needs in liaison with other staff and professionals from other agencies.
· Organise and lead small group and individual activities.
· Follow Child Protection Guidelines and Procedures.
Ensure that any issues or concerns about the children’s wellbeing or the safe operation of the Nursery are promptly reported to senior staff.
· Participate in outings, activities and staff meetings.
· Participate in training and staff development programmes.
· Provide children with snacks and drinks in line with current guidance on health and nutrition.
Any other duties required to fulfil your role by the Nursery Manager.

Must have HNC in childcare and education or equivalent
Must have recent knowledge or experience of working in an early years setting
Experience and / or good knowledge of Pre-birth to Three, Curriculum for Excellence, GIRFEC and Realising the Ambition
Must meet requirements for registration with SSSC
You will be required to be a member of the PVG scheme and not barred from working with children and/or protected adults
