About the Role
Are you a sharp, fast-thinking logistics professional who excels under pressure? Zed Logistics is seeking an Experienced Same-Day Route Controller to take command of our dedicated courier and rapid-response service.
In the same-day courier environment, timing is everything. You will be responsible for the real-time scheduling, routing, and dynamic management of our fleet. Leveraging your profound geographical knowledge and industry expertise, you will ensure that point-to-point consignments are collected, optimized, and delivered with surgical precision while maintaining high profitability margins per route.

Key Responsibilities
- Dynamic Fleet Routing: Efficiently dispatch and continuously optimise routes for a fleet of same-day couriers and owner-drivers in response to real-time incoming demands.
- Job Pricing & Margin Control: Accurately quote same-day delivery jobs for ad-hoc and contract clients, maximising vehicle utilization and operational profitability.
- Jeopardy Management: Monitor live traffic, track vehicles via telematics, and proactively intercept potential delays before they impact service level agreements (SLAs).
- Driver & Courier Management: Serve as the primary, authoritative point of contact for drivers, ensuring clear briefings, safety compliance, and efficient turnaround times.
- Key Account Communication: Keep high-value corporate clients updated with transparent tracking milestones, delivery confirmations, and rapid resolutions to any issues.
What We Are Looking For
- Proven Experience: A minimum of 2+ years of direct experience controlling or dispatching a dedicated, fast-paced same-day courier fleet.
- Geographical Expertise: An exceptional, instinctive understanding of UK road networks, transit hot-spots, and regional geography.
- Commercial Acumen: Strong competency in fast cost-calculations, ensuring jobs are accurately priced against mileage, vehicle type, and driver rates.
- Tech Literacy: Experience utilizing modern transport management software (TMS), routing algorithms, and multi-screen tracking platforms.
- Crisis Resilience: A calm, decisive demeanor with a proven track record of solving multi-vehicle logistical puzzles in high-pressure windows.
