Role: SEN Teaching Assistant

We are looking to recruit dedicated and resilient SEN Teaching Assistants to join a specialist primary SEN / SEMH school in Oldham. This role involves supporting younger pupils with a variety of special educational needs, including social, emotional and mental health challenges.
This is a highly rewarding opportunity for someone passionate about making a difference in the early stages of a child’s education. You will work closely with teaching staff to support pupils both in the classroom and on a 1:1 basis, helping them engage with learning, manage emotions and develop positive behaviours.
The Role:
- Supporting pupils with a range of SEN and SEMH needs
- Working both in-class and on a 1:1 basis
- Assisting with learning activities and behaviour support strategies
- Helping to create a safe, structured and nurturing environment
- Building positive and trusting relationships with pupils
The Ideal Candidate:
- Previous experience in SEN, SEMH or alternative provision (desirable)
- OR transferable skills from roles such as youth work, care, mental health, or behaviour support
- Confident and resilient when managing challenging behaviour
- Calm, patient and consistent in approach
- Able to work effectively as part of a team
