Nursery Manager – Hatfield Nursery -Torquay

Required Start Date: flexible, December 2026 - March 2027 3–6-month handover
Due to retirement, we are seeking to appoint an experienced EYFS Leader to manage our PVI nursery based at Priory School. We can offer a 3–6-month hand over allowing you to get to know and work hands on with managers, staff, children and families. You will be given the opportunity to attend relevant training, meetings and forums.
About The Role
At Hatfield Nursery, we are a welcoming, inclusive setting looking for an experienced and innovative manager to lead our nursery for children from 0-5 years old.
The nursery operates from 7.30am-5.30pm except Bank Holidays and Christmas to New Year.
As Nursery Manager you will have a strong understanding of child development, attachment and inclusive practice, leading with passion and dedication to ensure all our children grow educationally and thrive socially and emotionally.
You will be the Designated Safeguarding Lead and have a secure knowledge and experience of safeguarding. You will oversee SEND and support the SEND leads.
As the Nursery Manager you will be an experienced practitioner and leader, play a crucial role in promoting high standards within our nursery and supporting staff in their role as practitioners, providing guidance and mentorship to foster professional growth.
You will be responsible for the day-to-day management, staffing, organisation and smooth running of the nursery, ensuring that the best possible environment and care is provided for our children, families and staff.
What you will need :
· A minimum of at least 3 years’ experience working in nursery/preschool/early years ideally as senior lead or manager. Or with relevant social or childcare management experience.
· Minimum NVQ Level 3 in Child Care and Education or equivalent.
· Paediatric First Aid or able to undertake training.
· Excellent knowledge of the Early Years curriculum and proven track record of recording, planning, tracking and monitoring children’s learning and developmental milestones.
· Ability to actively engage and work with the staff team
· Experience of line management, rotas and managing budgets effectively.
· Caring and professional nature to work with a range of safeguarding situations, with a passion to support and make a difference to children and families’ lives, their care and education.
· Well-developed interpersonal skills to be able to relate to a wide range of people and situations including children, staff, parents and external professionals.
· Ability to professionally manage Ofsted Inspections, LA audits, H&S and all other statutory requirements
