Job Title: Electronics Engineer / Quality Engineer
Location: St Neots, PE19 8ER (Office based 3-4 day per week)
Salary: £50,000 gross pro-rata pa
The position
The role involves PCB fault finding, quality investigations, customer technical support, and ensuring compliance with IPC and ISO 9001 standards. Experience within electronics manufacturing, quality engineering, where strong analytical skills are essential. This is a client facing role whilst working with the internal teams to ensure quality SLA’s and standards are met.
The Role
- A good understand of circuit boards associated assembles &IPC610 requirements.
- Responsibility for completing FAIR 8D, BoM reports, KR’s/NCR’s managing the process directly with the client, suppliers and internal teams, in line with client timescales.
- Support electrical solution alignment with company expectations.
- Translate client electrical specifications and performance requirements into a clear technical scope for internal teams.
- Technical support for the Group Sales Director
- Support pricing assumptions, quantities, and scope clarifications in collaboration with Commercial / Group Sales Director.
- Technical environment experience.
- Providing New Product Introduction (NPI) / Prototype support
- Working with suppliers /manufacturers. OEMs and EMS
- Laise with group quality over quality issues identified by clients.
- A good understanding of quality expectations in line with ISO 9001 assisting the Group Quality Manager to maintain the standard(s) in line with Cyclops Group policies
- Ensure all documentation is accurate, issued on time, and aligned with the commercial proposal.
- Facilitate clear communication between Sales, Engineering, and clients, ensuring specifications, and deadlines are understood
- Act as the primary electrical engineering interface with clients, consultants, and internal Commercial teams during pre-contract and early project phases.
- Identify and manage risks, taking responsibility for fault finding in PCB’s, IPC etc.
Personal Attributes
- The successful Electronics Engineer will be reliable, professional, and comfortable working independently and with clients
- 2 years + experience working in a quality role within a manufacturing environment
- Knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 essential
- Highly organised detail oriented, and delivery focused
- Proficient in Microsoft office (word, Excel & Teams), with excellent written and reporting skills
- Familiar with the use of 5 Why, cause and effect, 8d problem solving
- Experience of PPAP Report generation including technical ability to review product drawings and specifications
- Strong analytical skills and strong fault-finding skills
- Attention to detail
- Strong team player and able to work on own initiative
- Pro-active and organised in your approach to work
- Effective communication and people skills
- Mentoring and coaching experience preferred
