About the Role
Marlin operates a premium collection of Serviced Apartments, Hotels, and Aparthotels across central London and Dublin. We are seeking a highly skilled, experienced multi-trade maintenance professional to take ownership of the day-to-day upkeep of our hotel. This is a senior hands-on role suited to someone who has spent years maintaining a busy hotel or similar commercial property and can work across multiple trades with minimal supervision. You will be the go-to person for keeping the building, guest rooms, and back-of-house areas running smoothly and looking their best. This is a role with real responsibility and autonomy, and the performance bonus rewards reliability, quality of work, and keeping the property to a consistently high standard.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance and reactive repairs throughout the hotel, including guest bedrooms, bathrooms, public areas, kitchens, and plant areas
- General carpentry, plumbing repairs (taps, toilets, showers, leaks, unblocking), basic electrical work (lamps, sockets, fittings — within legal competency limits), painting, decorating, tiling, and sealant work
- Maintain and monitor heating, hot water, and ventilation systems, and liaise with specialist contractors where required
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests from guests and staff, minimising disruption to hotel operations
- Conduct regular walk-rounds and inspections, identifying and resolving issues before they affect guests
- Support health & safety compliance, including fire safety checks, emergency lighting tests, water temperature checks, and maintenance records
- Assist with room refurbishment works, furniture repairs, and property improvement projects
- Manage a small stock of parts and materials and source supplies cost-effectively
Requirements
- Minimum 8 years' maintenance experience in a hotel or similar environment (hospitality, healthcare, facilities management, serviced accommodation)
- Genuinely multi-skilled across carpentry, plumbing, painting/decorating, and general building repairs — you will be asked about this at interview
- Strong fault-finding ability and a "fix it right first time" approach
- Comfortable working alone, prioritising your own workload, and dealing directly with guests in a professional, courteous manner
- Good understanding of health & safety in a commercial/guest environment
- A recognised trade qualification is an advantage but proven hands-on ability is essential
- Flexibility for occasional out-of-hours call-outs for emergencies
