We are seeking a passionate and knowledgeable Practical Instructor – Animal Care to deliver hands-on learning experiences for Level 1 and Level 2 students. The ideal candidate will be responsible for instructing and supporting students in animal care, ensuring they develop practical skills, confidence, and a strong understanding of working with animals.
About the Role
Working in a busy farm-based setting, this role is central to the day-to-day delivery of practical learning. You will balance teaching with hands-on involvement in animal care, supporting students as they apply their knowledge in real working environments. You will also work closely with the wider Animal Antiks team to ensure learning activities fit naturally alongside the running of the farm, while maintaining high standards of safety, organisation and animal welfare.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver practical instruction in animal care for Level 1 and Level 2 students, ensuring engaging, hands-on learning experiences.
- Support students in developing essential skills in animal welfare, handling, feeding, cleaning, and general husbandry.
- Ensure students understand health and safety procedures and best practices in animal care.
- Provide guidance and encouragement to help students achieve their learning goals and build confidence.
- Assist in the development of lesson plans and practical assessments in line with curriculum requirements.
- Monitor student progress, provide feedback, and maintain accurate records of achievements.
- Ensure a safe and supportive learning environment for all students.
- Work closely with the Animal Antiks team to integrate learning with the daily running of the farm.
- Maintain the highest standards of animal welfare and uphold the values of Animal Antiks.
About You
Essential:
- Experience in animal care, preferably within a farm, educational, or therapeutic setting.
- Strong practical skills in animal husbandry, handling, and welfare.
- Ability to teach and support students with varying abilities and learning needs.
- Passionate about working with young people and those with additional needs.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations related to animal care.
- A positive, patient, and encouraging approach to teaching and learning.
Desirable:
- Teaching or instructional experience in an animal care setting.
- Relevant qualifications in animal care or education.
- First Aid certification.
- Experience working with individuals with additional needs.

Hours
- 8:00am – 4:00pm, 5 days per week
- Year round role.
- Permanent position (subject to probation).
