Carlisle Fresh Foods is seeking a Butcher / Apprentice Butcher to join our busy team in Ballynahinch. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with existing butchery experience or someone looking to take their first step into the industry. Full training will be provided for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver excellent customer service at the meat counter
- Prepare, trim, cut, pack, and label fresh meat and poultry products
- Serve customers professionally and provide product advice
- Merchandise and present the meat department to a high standard
- Maintain stock rotation to ensure freshness and quality
- Replenish and display products throughout the day
- Follow HACCP procedures and maintain excellent hygiene standards
- Monitor product quality and presentation at all times
- Work effectively as part of a team to ensure smooth department operations
- Stay informed about new products and in-store initiatives
Skills & Experience
- Minimum 1 year’s experience in butchery, meat preparation, or a similar food retail environment preferred
- OR no experience required for Apprentice role – full training provided
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Basic understanding of food hygiene (HACCP knowledge desirable but not essential for trainees)
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Good teamwork and organisational skills
- Positive attitude with willingness to learn and develop
