Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Retail Assistant / Livestock Assistant to join our team. This role involves providing excellent customer service in a retail environment while also assisting with livestock care and maintenance. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting daily operations, caring for aquatic livestock and maintaining high welfare standards. This position offers an engaging opportunity to work in a dynamic setting that combines retail responsibilities with livestock management.
Duties
- Assisting customers with product enquiries and sales within the retail store.
- Providing specialised advice on aquatic livestock and supplies.
- Caring for aquatic livestock, including feeding, cleaning, and health monitoring.
- Assisting with maintenance tasks such as equipment repair and general upkeep of the premises.
- Performing heavy lifting when handling livestock or bulkly goods.
- Supporting the organisation of stock, including inventory management and stock replenishment.
- Ensuring all areas are kept clean, safe, and organised in accordance with health and safety standards.
Skills
- Knowledge of aquatic systems and livestock are a must.
- Technical knowledge related to equipment and products.
- Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and basic maintenance equipment.
- Ability to perform basic maths for stock counting and measurements.
- Experience in animal care including feeding, health checks, and general husbandry.
- Physical capability for heavy lifting and manual handling tasks.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Strong organisational skills with attention to detail.
