Millie's House at Woodlands Avenue is an 84-place nursery for children aged 3 months to 5 years, set across three floors of a bright, characterful building with four age-appropriate rooms and a secure walled garden. We're on the corner of a quiet residential road in the heart of New Malden, with excellent parking, local bus routes a short walk away, and Norbiton and New Malden stations within easy reach.
About the role
Working after the children have gone home, you'll get the whole nursery clean, fresh and ready for the next morning. It's an independent, self-directed role — you'll know the building, work at your own pace and take real pride in how it looks when you lock up.
Your work will include:
- Cleaning and sanitising all playrooms, the pre-school classroom, corridors and stairways across all three floors
- Cleaning and restocking toilets, nappy-changing areas and staff facilities
- Kitchen and food-preparation areas cleaned down to hygiene standards
- Vacuuming, mopping, dusting, and wiping down surfaces, doors, handles and skirtings
- Emptying bins and managing waste and recycling
- Cleaning windows, glass and mirrors at low level
- Reporting maintenance issues, spillages or stock shortages to the Nursery Manager
- Following COSHH and health and safety requirements, using cleaning products safely and storing them securely
- Locking up and securing the building at the end of your shift
What we're looking for
- Reliable and punctual — the nursery has to be ready at 8am every morning
- Able to work independently and manage your own time
- Thorough, with a good eye for detail
- Comfortable with the physical side of the job, including stairs across three floors
- Previous cleaning experience is welcome but not essential — full training is given
- Right to work in the UK and eligibility for an Enhanced DBS check

Safeguarding
Millie's House Nursery & Pre-School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff to share this commitment. Although this role is outside nursery opening hours, the post is subject to an Enhanced DBS check with children's barred list, satisfactory references, verification of identity, and a full employment history with any gaps explored. This role is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974.
Pay: Up to £13.00 per hour
