Job Description:
ZSEA is looking for a skilled Groundwork & Maintenance Operative to play an important role in carrying out maintenance work accurately to a high standard. Under the guidance of a line manager and through teamwork, you will be responsible for completing activities to ensure that a regular schedule of maintenance is carried out to the quality standards expected by the company, primarily at Africa Alive, may be expected to work at Banham Zoo as well.
Main Duties and responsibilities:
- Use job sheets to accurately complete work to a high standard under guidance from your line manager.
- Support and assist colleagues to ensure efficient service is delivered.
- Ensure effective communication and cooperation with other departments.
- Undertake work to assist in the fabrication of new groundwork/construction projects under the direction of your line manager.
- Review stock, ensure security and receive deliveries.
- Ensure machinery (tools and vehicles) are kept in good working order.
- Ensure high standards of Health and Safety, comply to risk assessments and statutory law and regulation.
- You may be required to work in other areas when requested to do so and may be required to perform other duties within the zoo that will be within your capability.
Person Specification
- Full UK driving licence for travel between ZSEA sites and events.
- Relevant license for driving a tractor and trailer.
- Current qualifications for various plant, equipment and machinery (Telehandler, dumper truck, scaffold, excavator, abrasive wheels, and circular saws).
- Previous experience of working within a construction/maintenance role.
- Groundwork skills.
- Good knowledge of general maintenance.
- Ability to work to set quality standards and operating procedures.
- Evidence of continuous professional development.
- Good communication skills.
- IT literacy.
- Create a warm and welcoming atmosphere by acknowledging every customer and providing service that is friendly, courteous and helpful at all times.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays as needed.
- Ability to work in an outdoor setting and withstand varying weather conditions.
Job Types: Permanent, Full-time, 40 hours week
