Overview
We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Care Workers to provide high-quality support to individuals in need of assistance. The role involves working with clients in various settings, including community and private residences. As a Care Worker, you will play a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for those you care for by offering personal care, companionship, and support tailored to their individual needs.
Duties
- Provide personal care to clients, including assistance with bathing, dressing, and grooming (personal care).
- Support clients with daily living activities such as meal preparation and feeding.
- Administer medication as prescribed and monitor clients for any changes in condition.
- Assist with mobility and transfers, including heavy lifting when necessary.
- Engage clients in meaningful activities to promote mental and emotional well-being.
- Maintain accurate records of care provided and report any concerns to the appropriate personnel.
- Provide companionship and emotional support to clients, fostering a trusting relationship.
- Implement behaviour management strategies as needed for clients with specific challenges.
- Ensure a safe and clean environment for clients by adhering to health and safety protocols.
Skills
- Experience in assisted living, community or similar environments is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of patient care practices, including dementia care and Alzheimer's care.
- Familiarity with hospice care principles is an asset.
- Strong caregiving skills with the ability to provide compassionate support to seniors or individuals with disabilities.
- Proficiency in first aid and emergency response techniques is beneficial.
- A valid driving licence is preferred for roles requiring transportation of clients.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting when assisting clients with mobility needs.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with clients, families, and healthcare professionals.
