Woods Fleet Support is looking for a professional and experienced Heavy Haulage HGV Driver to join our team. This role involves the safe transportation of commercial vehicles, trailers, plant, and specialist equipment across the UK, ensuring deliveries and collections are completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest standard of customer service.
Shift Pattern: Monday to Friday, with flexibility to work additional hours and nights out where required.
Rates of pay discussed during the interview process, dependent on experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate heavy haulage and HGV vehicles in accordance with road transport legislation.
- Collect and deliver commercial vehicles, trailers, plant, and specialist equipment nationwide.
- Carry out daily vehicle safety checks and report any defects promptly.
- Load, secure, and transport loads using approved methods and industry best practice.
- Complete all delivery paperwork, vehicle checks, and transport documentation accurately.
- Plan routes efficiently while complying with drivers' hours and Working Time Directive regulations.
- Maintain a professional and courteous approach when representing Woods Fleet Support at customer sites.
- Communicate effectively with the transport office and customers throughout each job.
- Follow all company policies, health and safety procedures, and legal transport requirements.
Requirements
- Valid Class 1 (Category C+E) UK driving licence.
- Valid Driver CPC qualification and Digital Tachograph Card.
- Previous heavy haulage, low loader, or specialist transport experience is preferred.
- Good knowledge of drivers' hours, tachograph regulations, and load restraint requirements.
- Strong communication and organisational skills.
- Reliable, flexible, and able to work away from home when required.
- A professional attitude with a strong commitment to safety and customer service.
